Arriving at Kims home studio after a busy morning, my first impression was how calm and relaxing the space is. I’m sure Kim has used her knowledge of essential oils to enhance that feeling and together with her calm re-assuring nature it really sets the mood for an amazing Aromatherapy experience.
“Aromatic plants have been a powerful way to reconnect with the sweetness of life, to reduce stress and improve wellbeing for generations of women in my family.”
I asked Kim a few questions about her business and here’s what she had to say:
Tell me about someone or something that influenced your desire to learn Aromatherapy?
The people who influenced me to learn Aromatherapy were the resilient and strong women in my life; my Grandmothers. I’ve loved aromatic plants and herbs since childhood, spending time “just being” with them in their beautiful gardens.
From taking in the visual beauty, to feeling instant emotional uplift from the fragrance of a rose, lavender or orange blossom.
Witnessing their enthusiasm and delight sharing their knowledge and love of aromatic plants and sharing in the delight of their fragrant gardens gave me an aromatic anchor.
The fragrances of my childhood have given me an anchor and deep sense of belonging and love because I connect them to people who provided me with unconditional love and acceptance.
Aromatic plants have been a powerful way to reconnect with the sweetness of life, to reduce stress and improve wellbeing for generations of women in my family.
What made you decide to start to sell your products and services?
My enthusiasm to share the benefits of aromatherapy for physical, mental and emotional wellbeing
What do you remember about the first aromatherapy treatment?
I was initially very nervous and very excited at the same time, interestingly these feel the same in the body.
After I settled into the treatment, I felt relaxed and connected with something bigger than myself and the client really enjoyed the treatment. I really appreciated that the client got relief from the issue they came for and they rebooked.
Whats the best thing that comes from starting your own business?
The sense of freedom of not having to answer to “a boss” and doing what you love.
What do you find most challenging about running your own business?
The administration, all the aspects that aren’t aromatherapy. It is very time consuming and can be challenging.
What do you do when you’re not working?
Socialise with Friends and Family
Yoga/ Meditation/read/listen to music

What motivates you to keep doing what you do?
