How did a Girl who grew up in a quiet village in the Lake District, UK end up running a Pets & Brands Photography business in Queensland Australia?
When my husband and I set out on our journey together, we were all about adventure, travel, experiencing life and not letting anything stand in our way. One of the first things we did as a married couple was to pack up our lives into backpacks get on a plane and emigrate to another country – from England to Australia. We traveled around and saw amazing things, we lived in amazing places and no matter what happened we always stuck together – don’t get me wrong, it was a rollercoaster, but we always worked through it.
At some point in that journey, we both started to feel like we should probably start thinking about the future and start saving to buy a house and settle down. As always, we found a way to make that happen (not quickly and not without hard work and sacrifice) and moved into our beautiful new home with our 2 Dogs Lucy – a boxer and Dino – a Mastiff x Bull arab.
A few years in, both of us were working to pay the mortgage and going on the occasional holiday. We decided that there must be more to life than this, so we started to talk about starting a family. We had always said that we wouldn’t have a baby until we were financially stable and could be sure they wouldn’t go without.
We decided that we were ready and could support a baby comfortably but we would probably only have the one.
Fast forward a year or so to our ultra-sound appointment.
“There’s one heartbeat, there’s another heartbeat and oh look, there’s ANOTHER heartbeat” Triplets!!!
We went from “Maybe we can manage One baby” to “Holy Shit! We’re having Three!!!!!!”
Oh yes! Shit got real!!!
While I took on the role of Mother to 3 babies at the same time, my poor husband took on the role of providing for all 5 of us.
As always we both took everything in our stride, worked through our ups and downs and stuck together through it all.
The Triplets are now Eight and have traveled to 5 different countries. They’ve lived on the Gold Coast, in Darwin, on the Sunshine coast and now near Brisbane, and my wonderful husband has made it all possible by working his butt off for us all, spending weeks at a time away from his family.
Now it’s time for another change!
The kids are at school now and I have some extra time to invest in growing my photography business.
Why photography? My Dad was a photographer and it’s always been a huge part of my life, but I digress, that’s a story for another day.
I need to create enough income to allow my husband to be able to come home to his family every night, I want to show our Triplets that anything is possible if you just put your mind to it!
I’d love to say, “We did It!!“ and I have no doubt that it will happen………….but we’re not quite there yet.
The framework is all in place, I just need the right people to know I’m here and that I’m ready to create their next piece of stunning wall art or the Images that they need to help them grow their own business!
